Clarification on Mask and Vaccination Policies for Remainder of Season 62

Clarification on Mask and Vaccination Policies for Remainder of Season 62

The Evergreen Playhouse Board of Directors, in its continued commitment to the health and safety of our actors and volunteers, has elected to continue requiring the use of masks and providing proof of vaccinations for the remainder of our 62nd Season. Pre-sale tickets were sold based on this policy, and we want to honor this commitment to our patrons. In addition, due to the close environment of the space and stage as well as a large cast for Cuckoo's Nest and Mamma Mia, we want to protect our patrons, actors, and volunteers as best we can for the next few months. Actors will also be wearing transparent masks while on stage, and additional cleaning will continue to be implemented between performances. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

EP Updated COVID Policy

EP Updated COVID Policy

For almost 2 years, if there’s anything we know for certain, it’s that nothing is certain. Health and safety protocols are constantly changing and evolving in regards to how businesses and organizations address COVID-19. At the Evergreen Playhouse, our first commitment is to the health and safety of our actors, our crew, our volunteers, and our patrons. We have readdressed our current COVID-19 policy in light of current variant trends and local, regional, and national health recommendations. The Evergreen Playhouse will continue to require proof of vaccination with photo ID for patrons 5 and up for entry to all performances, rehearsals, and work days. Masks will also be required for audiences inside the theatre (regardless of local or state mandates), except while actively eating or drinking. Read more here.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever has been Cancelled

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever has been Cancelled

Dear patrons and supporters of the Evergreen Playhouse. It is with heavy and disappointed hearts that we announce that we are cancelling the remainder of the run of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” due to COVID exposures. We care about the safety of our patrons, volunteers, and cast/crew and we’ve simply run out of options to safely mount the show within the next few weeks. We know this news is unfortunate and we are sorry for the inconvenience this causes families and patrons, but we believe this is the right thing to do for the health of everyone involved. For those that have tickets for closing weekend, you will be contacted shortly with available options for your seats. Thank you for your understanding and we wish you all a healthy and happy holiday season.

December 9-12 Performances for "Pageant" are Cancelled

The Evergreen Playhouse cares about the safety of our patrons, cast, crew, and volunteers. We believe it is in our best interest to cancel this weekend's performances (12/10, 12/11, and 12/12) out of an abundance of caution to make sure everyone is healthy before we return to the theatre. We know how disappointed everyone will be and we are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause families and patrons, but we believe this is the right thing to do for the health of everyone involved. If you have tickets for any of these performances, you will be contacted with the options we have available. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we navigate this!

Regarding Our Season 61 (2020-2021)

Regarding Our Season 61 (2020-2021)

As we begin to look at the future of theatre in our community, we have to look at all of the unknowns of COVID-19 and how that affects the Playhouse. Hearing about schools not reopening for students, performance opportunities being cut, Phases being locked in place with the potential for pushing back a Phase if we cannot get this virus under control...all of this has caused our Board to make the tough decision to cancel our advertised 61st Season.

We, as a Board, are incredibly sad to have to make this decision, but we know in our hearts it is the right thing and the responsible thing to do. Rather than…

Bringing our 60th Season to a Close and Updates to the Upcoming Season

Bringing our 60th Season to a Close and Updates to the Upcoming Season

As the days turned to weeks and we all did our best to stay at home as much as possible, the transmission of COVID-19 is down in our state. However, with Governor Inslee’s extended Stay at Home order, we are now struggling with the realization that our 60th season, while monumental for us, will also be very memorable as we close the season early.

We have been monitoring the COVID-19 situation every day, and met as a board virtually tonight. Today with great sadness we, the Board of the Evergreen Playhouse, have decided it is time to go dark for balance of the season.

After looking at our 61st season we have decided to make some modifications…

Options to Stay Connected with the Arts

Options to Stay Connected with the Arts

We should be preparing for the closing weekend of “Next to Normal” right now and planning for the next set to load in, instead we are all in a Stay at Home mode of life. This is not anything that I would have expected to have seen in my lifetime and it makes me sad that we don't get to see all of you at the theater. However, I am choosing to find the joy of life right now and realizing we are being given a gift of time -- time to learn how to navigate our jobs online and how to see our families online, time to read, paint, play games with our families, and time to complete those projects that we never found time to do.

A lot of artists are sharing free concerts during this time and some of the theater organizations are sharing free scripts for our reading pleasure and links to free musicals to watch. We will continue to share these concerts, musicals, and scripts on our Facebook page for you to enjoy as well. If you run across one that you think our audiences might enjoy, please let us know.

Announcing our 61st Season

While the Evergreen Playhouse is dark these days, we aren’t closed completely. The Evergreen Playhouse is run by a Volunteer Board so we are used to running the EP from behind the scenes. The EP had a lot of exciting things happening when we made the decision to postpone the production, one of those things was the announcement of our 61st Season. Following the lead of other theaters across the country, we are choosing to announce our season in online formats. Check out this video for the announcement!

Performances of Next to Normal and Cuckoo's Nest Are Postponed

We have been monitoring the COVID-19 situation every day, and met as a Board Sunday following Next to Normal. Today with great sadness we, the Board of the Evergreen Playhouse, have decided it is time to go dark for the time being. Yesterday was our last performance of Next to Normal on our scheduled run. We will NOT be cancelling the show, but instead postponing it. At this time we do not have new performance dates, but all ticket holders will be contacted as soon as we do. Existing ticket holders will be given the option to switch dates or receive a voucher for another production. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest will also be postponed and performance dates moved to the end of summer as we follow Governor Inslee’s statewide emergency proclamation….

Evergreen Playhouse's Response to COVID-19 in Preparation for Opening Weekend

Evergreen Playhouse's Response to COVID-19 in Preparation for Opening Weekend

As COVID-19 becomes a larger concern for Washington State, Lewis County has no reported cases at this time (as of 3/12/20). I want to reassure you, our patrons, that we have already implemented the precautionary measures stated by the Health Department and Governor Inslee. The health of our actors, patrons, and volunteers is always of utmost importance.

Next to Normal will open on Friday, March 13th, and we will do our best to run for three weekends, however, we are following the guidelines from the CDC and the Lewis County Health Department as we all stay informed about the current situation and we encourage everyone to also follow these guidelines…
